Caleb… in color

Two days ago I drew Caleb in pencil and used a combination of hatching and smudging the graphite with my finger to achieve the tone on his face. After I posted my portrait, Caleb’s mom emailed me about purchasing the drawing. I told her that I liked the composition so much that I wanted to draw it in color and she told me that she wanted the color one, too. So, tonight I cheated myself a little by tracing my original drawing of Caleb and then I used pastel and colored pencil to add the color to it. After I had finished I began to see all the errors that I had made in my drawing – his chin is a little too short, etc. I hope Caleb’s mom still thinks that this version looks like him!
